Balochistan University hostel closed after police, students clash

QUETTA: Clashes between police and students and unprovoked firing at the boys hostel of the University of Balochistan on Thursday led to the closure of the hostel for an indefinite period once again, said sources.
“The police raided the boys hostel as it was searching for three wanted students,” Yousaf Rodhani, the hostel provost, told Daily Times. Students refused to cooperate by saying it was a deliberate attempt to increase the police and military’s involvement in university affairs. The firing began when students refused to allow police to enter in the hostel, but nobody was injured.
The sources said the three students were wanted for creating law and order problems in the hostel on December 23. The university management banned the entry of these students in the hostel, but they managed to get in a day before this was done.
